Ishaan Khatter starrer ‘Pippa’ to release on OTT: Report | Hindi Movie News

Ishaan Khatter starrer ‘Pippa’ teaser came with the promise of a tough war drama. However, there has been no news about the film’s theatrical release date, after it was initially postponed from December 2, 20222.
Directed by Raja Krishna Menon, the movie is based on the Battle of Garibpur during the 1971 Indo-Pak war and features Ishaan and Mrunal Thakur in lead roles. Recent buzz suggests that ‘Pippa’ may opt for a direct digital release in the coming days owning to a legal battle that the film’s producer is embroiled in. According to mid-day, Ronnie Screwvala is at loggerheads with four national multiplex chains for anti-competitive collusion, for undue imposition of Virtual Print Fee (VPF). He had reportedly petitioned the Competition Commission of India (CCI) against multiplexes which demand Rs 20,000 from producers and distributors for every film that is screened at every property as VPF. Owing to this tussle, the makers are aiming to sell ‘Pippa’ to an OTT platform.

The film is based on the book, ‘The Burning Chaffees’, written by Brigadier Balram Singh Mehta and it has music by AR Rahman. Ishaan will step into the shoes of Brigadier Mehta, a veteran of the 45th Cavalry tank squadron, who fought on the eastern front during the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971. ‘Pippa’ also features Priyanshu Painyuli and Soni Razdan.
